Thank you for choosing Hartnell College!

You need to apply for admission to Hartnell College if you are a new student to Hartnell or are a returning student after an absence of one year or more.

 

If you choose to apply online, you must apply for admission at least two (2) working days before you register.  Remember, Applying and Registering are two different functions. 

 

We highly encourage you to use your Social Security number.  This will enable you to access registration sooner, to apply for financial aid, and to claim the education tax credit.

The Admission and Records staff will process your application for admission within two (2) working days of receipt.  You will receive an automated e-mail telling you about the next steps you will need to take in order to complete the application process and begin the registration process.

 

After completing the registration steps, you will be ready to enroll in courses by using PAWS (Personal Access Web Services) at www.hartnell.edu. or ASAP* telephone registration at (831) 755-6755.

NOTE:  The online application process requires the student’s Social Security Number, if you do not wish to provide your Social Security Number, you will need to submit a paper application.  You can find a paper Hartnell Application for Admission at www.hartnell.edu/admissions/application.html or stop by the Admissions & Records Office to pick one up.

Application Instructions

  • Complete this online application. After you are finished, click the SUBMIT button located on the left column of the application and follow the directions.
  • NO FEES are charged for a California Community College admission application. Fees may be charged for the additional international application from each campus.
  • REQUEST official transcripts from previous schools attended be sent to the records office at the address below.
  • INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS must complete this application and Hartnell’s International Student application as well. Contact our International Student Advisor at (831) 755-6829.
  • New First-Time College Students enrolling in 6.0 units or more must make an appointment for the STAAR* Assessment Test and complete Counseling 21: Orientation to College.
  • Concurrently Enrolled High School students may use the on-line application, but must submit an approved Concurrent Enrollment form before registering for classes. Packets may be picked up from the Admissions & Records Office or your high school counseling department.

How to Use the Hartnell College Online Application
To complete the online application, simply type your answers in the corresponding fields or select your answers from the popup lists (where applicable).

After you complete a screen, click the [Next] button at the bottom or on one of the sections listed on the left column to move to a different screen. Before you are allowed to jump screens, we will inspect your data on the current screen for errors or inconsistencies. If errors or omissions are found, you will be returned to the screen to correct your answer(s). Otherwise, your data will be saved and you will proceed to the requested screen. We also allow you to skip to another screen without your new data being saved. Be aware that if you use the Skip & Jump function on the left column, data on the current screen will not be saved and will have to be re-entered prior to submittal.

Once you have completed the application, click the [Submit] button located on the left column to submit the application.
